About Francis

Francis grew up in leafy west London where he started his educational journey at a local state primary. A musical bent saw him awarded a choristership at a choir school in Berkshire where he boarded for six years before returning to the capital for the rest of his education at an independent day school. He read English and creative writing at university and worked in communications after graduating.

For five years Francis tutored children preparing for 11+ entrance assessments. This gave him an understanding of the high stakes, high pressure world of London’s competitive schools’ market. His interest in education developed further when he took on freelance marketing and communications for The Good Schools Guide.

Ten years later and Francis is still in west London and now managing communications and online content for The Guide. He’s equally at home helping journalists with enquiries, writing about obscure aspects of admission policies or wading into vast spreadsheets of school performance data, the latter of which he put to personal good use when it came to choosing schools for his own young children.
