About Isabel

Isabel also travels further afield to visit specialist schools, 'I am passionate about the provision of quality education for all children, no matter what their need may be.'

Before The Good Schools Guide, Isabel spent twenty years living in London where she worked in an ad agency before training to become a teacher. As head of English at a west London prep school, she was passionate about getting as many children as possible to find the joy in reading (which sometimes required a lot of book suggestions to be successful!) - an appealing library is therefore always a treat during a visit. As mother to two school-aged children, she dons both her ‘teacher’ and ‘mum’ hats simultaneously when touring a school, 'I love nothing better than delving into the detail of the curriculum, which is the teacher in me, but also checking in on how a school nurtures each child under their care, which is the maternal bit of me.' Isabel also tutors English and co-presents a podcast called The Rest is Education.
