About Melanie
Since then, she's spent much of her time travelling the length and breadth of south west England visiting the very best independent, state, boarding and grammar schools in Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall.
With a degree in English and Italian, Melanie’s first career was as a PR agency director where she worked with the BBC expanding their educational content. After which she turned to journalism, writing about travel, parenting and education across a vast range of titles. Alongside multiple school reviews, she has penned two area guides for us, giving ear-to-the-ground insights to those looking to educate their children in either Devon or Cornwall.
'With four children of my own I know only too well how choosing a school is one of the most important, terrifying and exciting decisions of your parenting journey. I love being able to help make the process a little easier by peeling back the marketing layers of a school and revealing what really makes it unique, honestly showcasing its personality, approach and offering.
