About Simon
From his bunker in Ireland, Simon oversees the distribution of hyphens, commas and capital letters and endeavours to ensure that fine distinctions between ‘biennial’ and ‘biannual’, ‘palate’ and ‘palette’, ‘disinterested’ and ‘uninterested’ are correctly observed. Simon studied English at the universities of Cambridge and York and taught the subject in schools in Kent, Surrey and China. When not working for The Guide, he co-writes a poetry textbook, plays cricket badly and pursues another career as a professional actor.
