Boarding senior schools near Dulwich

Families who are keen on senior boarding school tend to choose places within striking distance of home – up to two hours in our experience. Dulwich parents, especially those wanting full boarding, tend to look at Eton College, Harrow School, Wellington College, Sevenoaks School, Marlborough College, Charterhouse, Wycombe Abbey, The King's School Canterbury, Benenden School and Roedean School.

Some families prefer flexi or weekly boarding, a boon for hard-pressed working parents and the chance for youngsters to board for a few nights every week and come home at weekends. Epsom College, St John’s School, Leatherhead, Cranleigh School, St Catherine’s School, Bramley and Woldingham School all offer a flexible approach. As a Woldingham parent told our reviewer: ‘Her bedroom overlooks cows, not some grotty town. Your heart rate drops as soon as you arrive.’ The train from Denmark Hill to Rochester can take less than an hour and makes it easy for weekly boarders at King’s School Rochester to nip home for the weekend.

Children aged 5-18 with autism and/or SEMH needs and those who have experienced trauma can weekly board at Muntham House School, Horsham. A stylish therapy centre supports with clinicians, drama, music and art therapy, several therapy dogs and a dedicated Lego therapy room. Outdoors there are fields, woodland and animal enclosures, where children enjoy equine therapy and can learn to look after the chickens, goats and donkeys.
